I found that the topic graffiti does not appeal to my target audience because they do not do graffiti themselves so they wouldn’t be interested in the topic and because of the area they live in does not have graffiti their not really intrested in knowing about it but thinking about it could happen to them they would consider wathcing a documentary. I was told to look at the art side of graffiti instead of just the negative points of graffiti. To make this appeal more to my target audience I could look at an area which is more like their area and talk about how that type of an area has changed from being from a high standard to a low standard. I was told it is always aimed mainly at the male gender than the female. My audience would want to know is graffiti related to crime or a piece of art and what is done about it. My audience would like for me to film my documentary in both area’s in a nice clean area with high standards and an area with low standards with lots of graffiti. My audience thought that graffiti is a crime but is also a piece of art but if people dislike it it is a crime. There are places where graffiti is aloud therfore graffiti is seen as art, and people send out their messages through there graffiti.
My focus group has affected the viability for my idea by telling me that my topic is more male based and it would appeal more to the males than females because males do graffiti more than females. I though I could discuss the matter in different locations to show the audience what graffiti says about an area, and to look at the area’s where graffiti is aloud because it is seen as art in that area.
My male audience said that this topic would not interest them in any way because the sound of teenage pregnancy is just referred to women because the females are the people that actually have to go through with the whole process, but to make it appeal to both male and female genders to discus the male’s view on it and see how they feel about their girlfriend becoming pregnant, how they feel, what they think about it and if they would want to keep the baby or not and show how it does not effect men has much as women because they’re not the one’s going through with it the females are. I also found that the male gender would watch a documentary but only to make sure they do not end up in that state. I found that if this documentary was to happen it should send a strong message because this is something which changes your life. My audience would like to know facts and figures about this topic which would shock the audience and make them think sensibly, and showing a real life situation which a couple have gone through would really grab viewers attention. To show the negative sides of having a baby, their education will go down hill and all the extra costs which your parents would have to pay for because you are unable to pay because you do not have a job. The documentary should be balanced and not biased. The tone of the documentary should be a sympathetic tone, my audience would like to see this because what it would be more realistic and you need to look forward the future what ever has happened, has happened, what should be done next.
My focus group has affected the viability for my idea by telling me what I could add to my topic which will make a successful documentary. I was told to make this topic appeal more towards the male audience as it would attract the male audience because the females are who go through the whole pregnancy. I thought I could discus more about the male gender and how they are affected by this and how they feel about the whole situation. I think this would be a good documentary if I was to go ahead with this idea as I wouldn’t find it difficult to find someone in this situation because it is very common underage pregnancy.
About the documentary appealing to my audience I found that it would appeal to them because everyone has their own spending habits but it is not something you can compare. It appeals to more females than women because women tend to buy a lot more then men although men do shop but avoid having to go out and shop. From my audience research I found out that my audience would like to find out why they spend so much money and what are the outcomes of it, is there a personal reason for them shopping so much, my audience would also want to know how much they spend on average on each shopping trip. My audience would like this to be presented by people having their own opinions to say and would like people who have experienced some of this sort to discus it. From this discussion I found that my audience are not shopaholics them selves but they would watch a documentary on shopaholics because they would like to see what exactly shopaholics get up to and why they are the way they are.
My focus group has affected the viability for my idea by telling me what I could add to my topic which will make a successful documentary. I was told to make my documentary appeal more to the male audience so more people would watch it rather than just women. I think this would be a bit tricky to put together as I would need to find someone who is a shopaholic and ask them to discuss their experience as a shopaholic and how they over come the situation.
