My male audience said that this topic would not interest them in any way because the sound of teenage pregnancy is just referred to women because the females are the people that actually have to go through with the whole process, but to make it appeal to both male and female genders to discus the male’s view on it and see how they feel about their girlfriend becoming pregnant, how they feel, what they think about it and if they would want to keep the baby or not and show how it does not effect men has much as women because they’re not the one’s going through with it the females are. I also found that the male gender would watch a documentary but only to make sure they do not end up in that state. I found that if this documentary was to happen it should send a strong message because this is something which changes your life. My audience would like to know facts and figures about this topic which would shock the audience and make them think sensibly, and showing a real life situation which a couple have gone through would really grab viewers attention. To show the negative sides of having a baby, their education will go down hill and all the extra costs which your parents would have to pay for because you are unable to pay because you do not have a job. The documentary should be balanced and not biased. The tone of the documentary should be a sympathetic tone, my audience would like to see this because what it would be more realistic and you need to look forward the future what ever has happened, has happened, what should be done next.
My focus group has affected the viability for my idea by telling me what I could add to my topic which will make a successful documentary. I was told to make this topic appeal more towards the male audience as it would attract the male audience because the females are who go through the whole pregnancy. I thought I could discus more about the male gender and how they are affected by this and how they feel about the whole situation. I think this would be a good documentary if I was to go ahead with this idea as I wouldn’t find it difficult to find someone in this situation because it is very common underage pregnancy.
