Introduction
I have thought of three ideas for my production. My first idea is teenage shopaholic’s and I wanted to see how shopaholic’s spend money on things which they do not need and how it’s affected them. My second idea is teenage pregnancy and how its affected teenagers in the long run after experiencing being pregnant. My third and final idea is graffiti and how it has affected an area and whether or not it is seen as art or vandalism. I have chosen teenage pregnancy for my final production.

I have chosen teenage pregnancy for my final idea because this topic is extremely popular and even though there are already documentaries on this subject I feel that this subject is a big problem at the moment and it will only help people who are in this situation to think twice in the future. As the percentages are going higher and higher every year I feel that this will help my production because I will have valid information for my targeted audience and this will give lead on to me having a strong production at the end. I also feel that the information I have got will be relevant towards my targeted audience, because of all the facts and figures I will include in my documentary I will make it very factual and straight to the point. I will not be biased in my documentary although there are not many good points about being a teenage parent, I will try and make it eye catchy and make sure it is interesting through out my who production.

My idea which I have rejected is teenage shopaholic, I have not chosen this idea because I do not think I will be able to put it all together and it would be difficult to get interviews with people because they will be busy or just not reachable and for a successful documentary interviews are important to gain someone’s personal opinion. I have also rejected graffiti because it does not have a wide audience, not everyone has a great interest in vandalism so it will not meet the brief. I feel that there will not be enough information given out to the targeted audience and the audience for the topic is more of an older audience rather than teenagers although more of the younger generation do graffiti.

Going back to my chosen idea, which is teenage pregnancy I will need to consider the limitations of what I have chosen. I will have to consider the target audience viability, make sure it is focusing on the main point not tracking to another topic, duration, content and representation of the whole idea. All these limitations will need to be kept in mind throughout the whole production because I need to meet the BBC3 brief and meet the remit of educate, inform and entertain in order for my production to be successful.

In order to have a successful final production. I will need to consider the followings before going ahead with the production: audience viability, content viability and technical viability.
Technical viability and audience viability are the most important things I will have to keep in mind and will have to reflect my idea’s back on this because if my target audience is not accurate this whole production will be a failure because it will not then meet the brief, also keeping in mind the technical viability I will need to make sure I have everything I need for this production in order for the production go smoothly but overall I feel that I can handle producing this production as long as I have prepared myself well enough. With my content viability as I have done enough research for me to start my production and the interview’s I have thought about will fit it very well with my production.

As a conclusion for my final idea, I have chosen teenage pregnancy because it targets well towards its actual targeted audience which will meet the brief and I think has a lot of potential its final outcome as this is one of the main concerns today about teenagers becoming pregnant at such a young age and looking to see how they coped with the situation, as this has a niche audience.
For my pre- production stage I will do a story board as to how I would like my production to flow and go by, I will also arrange when to have my interviews and what types of equipment I will need to use for my productions and need to arrange all the timing this will need to be done so my whole production will run smoothly.

  1. An unaccetable peice of work.

Harpreet, this work lacks detailed reference to your documentaries outside of the introduction. You must reference your research throughout as at the moment this is almost just defining terms.

Also, your format is not how it was laid out on the sheet.

To clarify, you need one paragraph each on these factors:

-Meeting the brief (BBC3, meeting the remit of inform, educate and entertain, 9pm)
-Audience Viability (use your focus group findings to support your explanations)
-Content Viability (use your internet research findings to support your explanations, consider access to interview subjects)
-Technical Viability (how easy will the production be to execute in terms of access to equipment, locations)

Each paragraph should be structured like this:
•For your chosen idea you must explain in detail (2 reasons, fully explained) why you chose that idea.
•For each of your rejected ideas you must explain why you (1 reason, fully explained) have rejected the idea.
•You should also identify any limitations of the idea you have chosen to take into production.

Also, you are missing the following pieces of work:
    -ofcom
    -media law
    -bbc guidelines
